Saw this on a table at a swapmeet for cars:
from a vl1500 I think, but no pads were with it. 4 pistons
stock
side by side
Banjo bolt is different thread, but the location looks the same. The pads are bat wing shaped. I have a banjo bolt from my 6 piston front calipers that works. Put it on the rotor and there is plenty of room. It fits the bracket, but I have not put it on to see if it will clear he swingarm when mounted. This could be too much rear brake or and upgrade for people who have went DarkSide or tow a trailer. I'll be looking for pads. Anyone see any problems?? Look for numbers on it.
So far it looks great.

VL1500 is a single piston Caliper. In fact looks just like the 1400 as far as I can tell.
You said the threads were differnt. SAE or Metric? SAE = Harley part...
Be nice to know what model it fits. I looked up 4 piston caliper on Ebay but didn't see any positive matches.

1998-2004 VL1500C or 2005-2008 VL1500T C90 rear caliper. Pads FD107 Gaffer number. Banjo bolt from a 6 piston caliper (kaw 600 rocket ) fits, but finer threads. FIXITNOW Edited by FIXITNOW on Jun 30, 2009 at 08:59 AM

Okay I found it on the 2004 model. Looked at other year before. Hope this works but I'd really prerfer Harley part as these can usually be found in chrome a lot easier.

Found the right pads: EBC # FA158 (old #) or VD344?? or FA366 book #. Go with FA 158.
need to clean the 4 pistons and install. Not going to do anything about the anti-squeal things yet. FIXITNOW

Do not know about how front calipers mount ( but they are different pads on each side ). I run a 6 piston caliper off a 2001 kaw z600. I made a bracket for upper bolt on caliper to forks.
I need to adjust my brake pedal, my forward controls have some sloppiness and I can not push the pedal farr enough to get a strong feel, but it will haul me down from cruising speed ok.
The only reason I'm looking into this is for a problem I saw of a vs1400 pulling a trailer 2-up with bags at a rest area on I-96 (Lansing area ). There rear rotor was heat treated from stopping all that weight. I swapped pads with him, because he was down to nothing on his pads and they were going to Grand Rapids from Erie PA. I was close to home and don't use the rear brakes much from habit. This got me to thinking about how to stop 2-up, saddlebags, trailer and maybe those who are going Dark Side (is this tire heavier than stock 170/80-15??). It may have been this guys riding style (Rear Brake Only, English three speed nightmare's). As I learn more I'll post. FIXITNOW

I love it when someone does a lot of work for me. Searching for a caliper myself now. I think the linkage slope is part of the issue or perhaps once the pads are seated it will sort out.
MAYBE an air bubble will come out with a quick bleed too.
