I guess Highwayman went under much like the Mom & Pop shops that made this country! I would like to get a set of these but can't find them anywhere! OH WELL I'll just have to make my own! I just can't seem to justify $700+ for a set of forward contols :(

bought last year 9/04, just installed 4/2/05. very happy with fit and finish. they really feel natural to my riding style. used another companys pegs for the look i wanted. would recomend buying these forwards, there is a 6 to 8 week wait on these . if you want great looking like they came stock on your bike forward controls. these are the ones, just be patient in waiting for them. and the people you deal with (kieth) are great also. check out my profile pictures to see the finished product,i took my time and did some small detail custom alterations of my own. 4 hours is all the time i put into this prodject. well worth the time and money spent. chain drive charlie

This is my second kit. My first was bent in a 40 mph slide, and surprisingly sustained little damage, but more than I was willing to trust to repair. So now I'm a repeat customer. The build time is still about 2.5 months, so deal with it. There are a couple of design improvements that give the controls a tighter feel, and the kickstand is a pure MC jewelry. I also appreciate the kickstand kill switch. On the negative side, the welds are not nearly as clean as on my first rig -- beads having many globs and voids -- and the pieces do not appear as precisely cut. So I assume that increased sales volume has required hiring less skilled metal workers and welders, or just a more rushed work. Product integrity, however, is still solid; the chroming is still first rate; and overall still worth the money.

Terrific controls (I bought then with the matching foot plates), well worth the money and the wait for delivery (same as everyone, 6 weeks and much communication with Keith and Rosemary). Very comfortable (I am 6' 2") and suits the Corbin Dual Tour very well. Great looking chrome, easy fit and the plates and controls can be adjusted to suit any foot. And small malfit with sidestand and Jardine slipons was an extra bracket from Keith.. very easy. Update on the malfit, just replaced the exhaust clamp with VS800 and problem solved. Keith is also making me a new bracket for the footplates to lift them slightly (dragging them on the road on some corners). Further update, getting some new gearshift and brake pedals made by Keith with one one bend, to get the pedals closer in away from my big feet

I had the same experience that others have posted here. Friendly, helpful people at Highwayman, who even helped me identify the Kuryakin hardware I needed to use Kuryakin pegs instead of Highwayman's own. Long wait for delivery, but worth it. Perfect fit for my 6'1" frame. One of the pages on thier site is from my old web page:http://www.highwayman.ca/highwayman/cust_1INT14Install.shtml

It took 2 months to get, but it was worth the wait. Installation was very easy and the one question I had was answered right away by Rosemary. The quality is superb, along with excellent customer service!""

Just spoke with Keith at Highwayman and he is in the process of developing a retro-fit for the VS1400 forward control sidestand "kill" switch. As soon as it's out and available he will start notifying previous customers. GO Keith, Good Job." Keith does not stock parts, He custom builds each set as ordered. He had som "jigging" problems, which have since been worked out and they are back on track. Got Auntie M's forwards (incl Floorboards) and she loves them too. Remember "Custom" work takes time and they are well worth waiting for check out his website at http:\\www.highwayman.ca for the top of the line forward controls.

This is a great rig, but as a business, Highwayman needs some work. First the positives. In my opinion, these are the best looking forwards for the 1400. They do not look like a bolt-on afterthought. They are made from high quality steel, have clean welds, and the chroming has a deep liquid appearance - nice. For me at 6-2, the overall fit is perfect, and the braking and shifting are equal to or better than stock once dialed in. On the negative side, it took 11 weeks for delivery. They either used the wrong jig or wrong parts on the kick stand and brake linkage. I was able to jury-rig solutions while waiting for a warranty fix which took two attempts and two more months. Keith and Rosemary seem to be terrific people, but be advised that Highwayman is a small operation with small parts inventory and limited process control for ensuring consistency in quality, production schedule, and order tracking.

Perfect fit-up, excellent deep chrome work. Mine only took about 6 weeks delivery and I had absolutely no trouble installing. I'm 6' with long legs and the forward position is just right for me. I had to move the master away from the bracket with 3 washers (recommended) to hit my light switch correctly. No other modificatins were needed for a smooth, quick bolt up. The Highwayman pegs are bigger, wider for a comfortable ride and good support. I recommend them at a +/- #30.00 savings if bought WITH the forward controls. After reading the Seeger, Jardine & Restyling reviews, I am doubly glad I opted for a little longer delivery time for a superior product. Cheap price and Big names just don't cut it when it comes to top quality all the time and isn't that what INDIVIDUAL SERVICE is all about? Buy them during the winter when you're not riding quite so much. Unca Doo says "Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up and ride safe."

I agree with (kpreis), excellant craftmanship & design.I waited 10 weeks for delivery. Great idea moving the pegs back to the second hole, makes a world of difference for a 5'10" guy! I was disappointed it wasn't disclosed BEFORE delivery that the kick stand safety system was removed. I recieved my controls @ 11am and was taking my 1400 for a test ride @ 1pm. Very easy to install. Quick and easy correspondence with the folks @ Highwayman also.. go for it if you have the $$$ and nerve to wait for delivery!!

Chrome quality is excellent. The action of the shifter and brake is great. I opted for the footpegs and am very pleased with them. They are oversized and fairly comfortable. The reach to the forwards is a bit much for me at 5'11", but I helped this by moving the pegs to the rearward mounting hole intended for mounting optional floorboards. The forwards can also be ordered without pegs or boards so that you can add your own. During installation I found them to be a very tight fit in the area of the rear master cylinder/right headpipe, making it a little difficult to bolt them up. The original peg bracket is replaced with this set and also includes a new kickstand. However, the sidestand safety switch has to be bypassed to use these forwards. The forwards are hand built and the quality is excellent. But with hand built comes a _long_ turn around time to receive your order. Better plan on getting them 2 months after you order...a little ridiculous, IMO."
